We are proud to have a strong and spirited basketball program at I.S. 109, where our student-athletes develop teamwork, discipline, perseverance, and school pride both on and off the court.
Our school community is especially proud to celebrate the incredible achievement of our team as the 2024 NYC Middle School Basketball Champions.
Their championship run reflects the dedication of our players, coaches, families, and the entire I.S. 109 community.
In Mr. Borno's and Mr. Joseph's Robotics Club, students bring ideas to life through creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on learning.
Students explore technology, engineering, coding, and robotics while designing, building, testing, and improving their own projects.
Through teamwork and real-world challenges, students develop valuable STEM skills while learning how technology can be used to create, innovate, and solve problems.

Each spring, I.S. 109 proudly hosts the Queens Theatre CASA Program, bringing professional musicians and drama instructors directly into our school.
Through this hands-on experience, students explore music, acting, storytelling, and performance while working together to write and create their own original 15–20 minute theatrical production.
The program concludes with students bringing their ideas to life through a live performance that showcases their creativity, collaboration, and talent.
